Well, hello there! Ok…so the obvious Horton hears a Who reference for yesterday’s post was funny to me and seemed appropriate to kick off this blog. With so many friends and family scattered all over the country we could easily be compared to being a speck of something on a giant global dandelion. Tee hee hee
I have been toying with the idea of doing this for some time now. Since we are spread out all over the place in this great country of ours, communication to everyone isn’t always feasible or timely. We are all busy. I do think about sending cards, writing email or just making phone calls and then *dramatic pause* reality happens. Things just seem to slip between the cracks or get reordered on the ‘to do’ list. How exactly do you stay in contact with so many people in so many different places?
I am a creature of technology so the web log or ‘blog’ makes sense to me. I figure everyone uses the internet by now, right?
Just so you know, I don’t believe for a minute that my daily activities would remotely be of any interest to anyone. I mean, to be honest, they are often of little interest to me! Tee Hee Hee
This exercise is merely for entertainment value and fun. Every now and then I expect to happen upon a topic of interest but for the most part my posts may just be random thoughts about nothing in general. That’s just how my mind works sometimes. Or doesn’t work, I guess.
The action to get this blog going was kick-started recently when a delightful piece of mail made it’s way into our mailbox. I was excited to receive an invitation to a Family Reunion (mom’s family) taking place this month. (Thank you, Mark & Darcy!)
But after some research and creative accounting exercises with the budget, it was determined that we were not going to be able to go. So, I decided now was as good a time as any to start this blog. So…back to Horton…
We are here! We are here! We are here!
Where is here?
For us ‘here’ is in the heart of the Lone Star State!! We love it. I don’t have to shovel or sweep mountains of snow from my vehicle in the winter anymore. After now eleven years of Texas summers I am officially allergic to the cold. Of course ‘cold’ is a relative term so for me the definition of cold is anything below 70 degrees-Fahrenheit, that is! Just so you know, I have no problem venturing north for vacations but the minute that little white stuff starts to fly…I am outa there! Tee hee hee.
I believe that we can say for certain that summer has arrived in Texas. And with a vengeance! It’s a bit early for us to be experiencing 100+ degree days but we have already had more than 8 such days in this month of June! Whew! It’s hot!! We aren’t used to this heat so soon but for some strange reason, it has not been bothering me in the least. I don’t know…but I am enjoying the nice hot soak so far. Ask me again in about a month and a half and my tune might be different. J
June has already been a pretty busy month for us as well. A certain little monkey turned four years old and we had a fun birthday party for him earlier this month. Yes, I did say FOUR. He’s FOUR! Wow! He keeps us laughing and running most days. Of course there are those days when he can be quite a bit less cute…and somewhat frustrating but I am happy to report that at this point, the good days really do wipe out those bad ones.
I love being a mom. There is no better job on the planet.
And to the veteran mommies out there, I am well aware of the fact that I lack the necessary years of experience in the field to actually make that statement with any level of credibility. I can say thus far…I am not disappointed.
Welcome to my blog! Pictures will be posted or linked soon. I haven’t gotten everything exactly the way I want it so you have to come back and see. Really, you do. Or I will cry.
